In order to prevent contamination from old crops to new, complete sterilization is important. Live steam is used for this process. Temperatures up to 160 degrees are required to completely sterilize all the trays, rooms etc. used in the growing process.

Most all of the mushroom growing process is performed indoors. Mushroom farmers create their own growing environment. On most farms, a new crop is started each week. At any point in time, there are crops in all stages of production. This allows for a continuous production, work load, and cash flow. Continuous supply is paramount to the development of a customer base.
